David Beckham

He started his playing career with in 1992 with Manchester United appearing in the youth team, he was farmed out to Preston and returned after 5 appearances to make his full team debut in 1994 and received his England call up in 1996 by the then England manager Glenn Hoddle, he stayed at United until 2003.

Beckham was the first ever England captain to be sent off and the first England player to amass two red cards.

In 1997 he started dating Victoria Adams of the pop group The Spice Girls, they instantly attracted attention from the press and were soon called "Posh & Becks", they married in 1999 and have since had 3 children are still together despite claims of an affair in 2004 with Rebecca Loos who was his former personal assistant.

David Beckham's most famous world cup moment came in France 1998 when he was sent off against Argentina. However, he has since gone on to prove himself as one of England's all time greatest players, exceeding over 100 caps and well on course for inclusion in the 2010 England World Cup Squad.

Following an injury Beckham received in March on his left achilles tendon he now been ruled out of appearing in the South African World Cup as he will be out of action for around six months. However England manager Fabio Capello may take over Beckham as an advisor and to bolster team spirits.

Beckhams long career at Manchester United helped him gain a huge amount of honours that most players can only dream of attaining.

Computer Games

Computer game developers have always enjoyed placing a likeness of Beckham in their computer games particularly the FIFA and Pro Evo series as they know that fans will relish the idea of playing as Beckham. A now defunct computer Games Company called Rage Software in 2001 was one of the first to create a game based solely on Beckham and his likeness called simply "David Beckham Soccer".
