Stage of Elimination
Now England have discovered their World Cup fate we can take another look at the Stage of Elimination Odds. Due to the difficult nature of Group D their odds to go out in the group stage have been cut, with Italy and Uruguay now the narrow favourites to progress. However, it is worth remembering that the last time The Three Lions failed to make it to the knockout stages was way back in 1958. Since three points was awarded for a win at the World Cup England have collected the following amount of points from their Group Stages games:
- 2010 - 5
- 2006 - 7
- 2002 - 5
- 1998 - 6
On three of those occasions they have finished 2nd, while they topped the group in 2006. However, this time around they are facing a much sterner test and could easily go home with three points or less. Four points is proving to be the most popular bet at 3/1, while five points is tempting at 15/2. Alternatively they are priced at 12/1 to win every single game.
