Euro 2012: England 3-0 Bulgaria
England returned to action on Friday 2nd September with a convincing 3-0 win against Bulgaria in Sofia. Gary Cahill's early goal followed by a brace from in-form Wayne Rooney took The Three Lions up to 14 points as they edged closer to automatic qualification to Euro 2012.
Euro 2012: England 2-2 Switzerland
England came back from two goals down to rescue an unconvincing point against Switzerland. The Three Lions were heavy 4/11 favourites before the game and did anything but justify that price during their lethargic display at Wembley.
Two quick fire free-kicks from Tranquillo Barnetta gave the visitors a shock 2-0 lead after just 35 minutes. Frank Lampard hit back instantly for England from the penalty spot before substitute Ashley Young salvaged a draw for Fabio Capello's men shortly after the break.
However, a draw was enough to keep England top of Group G on goal difference as Montenegro were held to a 1-1 draw by Bulgaria.
Friendly: England 1-1 Ghana
Just three days after defeating Wales in their Euro 2012 European Qualifiers England faced Ghana in an international friendly.
As several members of the squad were up for European action Fabio rested several players including England captain John Terry which meant that Fabio had to select another new captain for this match, in the end he chose Manchester City's Gareth Barry.
The other players released were Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.
Although not looking 100% match fit Andy Carroll still managed to open up his international goal scoring account for England with a goal in the 43rd minute, however as Ghana piled on the pressure England's one goal advantage was cancelled out in injury time with a well placed shot from Sunderland's Asamoah Gyan.
Euro 2012: Wales 0-2 England
England managed to leapfrog Group G leaders Montenegro thanks to their clean sheet and two goals in the first half.
The first goal game from a Frank Lampard penalty in the 7th minute following a foul on Ashley Young from his Villa team mate James Collins. This was followed just seven minutes later from Darren Bent who scored his third goal in successive matches for England.
The only negative on the game was the yellow card that Wayne Rooney picked up which will rule him out for the qualifying game against Switzerland in June.
Friendly: Denmark 0-1 England
On the 9th February 2011 England beat Denmark 2-1 from the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
The games was in preparation for their important upcoming Euro 2012 qualifier match, which will see Wales v England in Cardiff. The friendly was to give the players time to gel ahead of the game
