Captain

England Football Captain - Rio Ferdinand

The England Football Captain is described as the second most important job in the country only behind the Prime Minister, that is slightly tongue in cheek but as John Terry found out recently there is a huge responsibility placed on the Captain. Terry looked set as the Captain of the side heading to the 2010 World Cup but allegations regarding his private life have caused Fabio Capello to strip the Chelsea player of the armband. The England World Cup Odds have not be altered as a result but Rio Ferdinand will be dreaming of lifting the World Cup for England and we hope he does!

Rio Ferdinand is now the man who has been given the responsibility of leading the side with Steven Gerrard promoted to the role of vice-captain, Rio will have the tough task both on and off the pitch as he aims to assert his authority in the role. The team will need a strong leader and Rio is the man for the job as long as he can remain fit through to the World Cup and he now has the greatest opportunity a footballer can receive, and that is the chance to lift the World Cup whilst captaining your country.
