World Cup Wags
The WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends’ of famous football players) of the England football team have become celebrities in their own right, appearing in TV shows like WAG's boutique and I'm A Celebrity and thanks to shows like the ITV1 drama series Footballer's Wives, every girl wants to be one. They also regularly appear in the weekly lads mags like Zoo and Nuts and well as Hello and Heat.
No country has welcomed the WAGS more into their culture than the UK, although during the last World Cup campaign the press did come under fire for concentrating on them more than the England Squad and there are rumours that members of the 2010 England Squad will not be taking their partners with them.
Coleen Rooney is of course the wife of the Manchester United and England footballer Wayne Rooney and has become one of the highest earning Wags to date.
The most established of the WAG's and the one with the ultimate footballing icon in her husband David Beckham, Victoria Beckham is known as the Queen of the WAG's. Becks of course will be missing from the pitch in South Africa but it would be no surprise to see Posh out and about during the tournament.
Cheryl Cole is of course in the midst of a messy divorce from husband Ashley but we could no resist having another quick look at her, she will be missed in the Wags fraternity with her and Ashley set to be sepearted for good.
Although she is one of the lesser known WAG's but her profile will only rise, she is now married to her long term partner Joe Cole.
One of the newer members of the collective of WAG's, she has been dating Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch since 2006, and was part of the swarm of WAGs that went with the England team to the 2006 World Cup.
A blast from the past
Just for old times sake when the word WAGS hadn't been invented, Louise Nerding (now Redknapp) was the original celebrity partner of footballer, Jamie Redknapp.
Wife of the constantly injured Jamie Redknapp and one of the original WAGs and a popstar to boot, Louise Redknapp is the original WAG.
